For CPAs, enrolled agents and bookkeepers: clients who own an S corporation or work for themselves ask the same two things every tax season: which health plan, and why the premiums never made it onto the W-2. Licensed agents in 31 states (led by Daniel Griffin, NPN #22052447) take the first question off your desk. The printable state handouts below cover the second in plain English, with your firm’s name on them.

What Your Client Gets
- Plans priced side by side. Marketplace and private plans for the client’s ZIP code, with expected 2027 income checked against the subsidy cliff.
- Doctors and prescriptions checked against each plan’s network before the client chooses.
- A plan bought with the company-pays step in mind. In the owner’s name or the company’s, set up so the S corporation can pay it or reimburse it the way Notice 2008-1 needs.
- One licensed agent, no call center. By text, phone or email, and no cold calls.
- The tax side stays with you. The agent gives no tax advice, and every handout says so.

Health Insurance and Your Taxes in Florida
For S corporation owners and the self-employed. A summary, not tax advice: the deduction, wages and payroll belong with your tax professional.
- Dec 15enroll for a plan that starts January 1
- Dec 31the S corp pays or reimburses 2026 premiums
- Jan 15open enrollment ends
- Feb 12026 W-2s are due
- Apr 15last day for 2026 HSA contributions
S corporation owners (more than 2%)
- The company pays the premiums, or reimburses you with proof you paid, by December 31.
- They go in W-2 Box 1 as wages; Boxes 3 and 5 stay clear of them.
- The deduction (Form 7206, then Schedule 1 line 17) can’t be more than your Box 5 Medicare wages from the company.
- Paid from a personal account and never reimbursed: no deduction.
Self-employed (Schedule C, single-member LLC)
- Premiums paid during 2026 count; the policy can be in your name or the business’s.
- Capped at net profit, less the deductible part of self-employment tax and SEP, SIMPLE or qualified plan contributions from the same business.
- It lowers income tax, not self-employment tax.
- No deduction for months you or your spouse could join an employer’s subsidized plan.
Florida tax
Florida has no personal income tax. The state constitution bars a tax on the income of residents (Article VII, Section 5), so every dollar of this deduction saves federal tax only.
2027 coverage in Florida
The typical Florida county’s cheapest 2027 Silver plan costs $701 a month for a 40-year-old and $2,242 for a family of four, before any subsidy. The 2027 subsidy cliff is $63,840 of income for one person and $132,000 for a family of four; the deduction lowers the income the marketplace counts.
