Gadsden County is the only majority-Black county in Florida, with a primarily agricultural and small-business economy near Tallahassee — many residents buy dental coverage on their own.

If you’re self-employed, dental premiums for yourself, a spouse and dependents generally count toward the self-employed health insurance deduction, which can’t exceed your business’s net profit, isn’t available for months you could join an employer-subsidized plan, and cuts income tax but not self-employment tax. The bigger line in that deduction is usually health cover: Gadsden County’s 2026 benchmark Silver plan runs $679 a month for a 40-year-old before subsidies.
