ACA Marketplace Health Insurance in Colorado

Colorado operates its own state-based marketplace: Connect for Health Colorado (connectforhealthco.com). Colorado was one of the first states to launch a state-based exchange and has consistently had strong enrollment and carrier participation. Open Enrollment runs November 1 through January 15, with coverage effective January 1 for enrollments completed by December 15.

Colorado expanded Medicaid, so residents earning below 138% FPL (~$21,597 for a single adult in 2026) may qualify for Health First Colorado (Medicaid). An independent broker can help you navigate both pathways at no cost. Call (713) 575-9904 or use the form below.

ACA Carriers Available in Colorado (2026)

Six insurers sell 2026 plans on Connect for Health Colorado. Carrier availability varies sharply by region — the Denver metro has the most choice, while some mountain and Western Slope counties have one or two:

  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Denver Health Medical Plan
  • Kaiser Permanente
  • Rocky Mountain Health Plans
  • Select Health

Plan availability varies significantly between metro and rural counties. Mountain resort counties (Summit, Eagle, Pitkin) may have fewer carrier options and higher premiums than Front Range counties.

Colorado-Specific Subsidy Notes

Colorado expanded Medicaid, eliminating the coverage gap. ACA premium tax credits apply from 138% FPL up through 400% FPL ($62,600). The Inflation Reduction Act enhancement above that threshold expired on 31 December 2025. Colorado also participates in a state reinsurance program (the Colorado Option), which puts downward pressure on premiums and requires carriers to offer standardized benefit plans in every county.

The Colorado Option plans are standardized benefit designs available in every county, making comparison easier. Silver plan CSRs provide the most value at incomes between 138% and 250% FPL — always check CSR-enhanced Silver plans before selecting Bronze at those income levels.

How Colorado compares to other states

Colorado runs its own health insurance marketplace, which means it is missing from the federal data most comparison sites use. I compiled Colorado’s figures from state rate filings on a companion site: see where Colorado ranks against the other states.
